Awesome Retro MacOS Wordpress Theme
Tuesday, August 21st, 2007How cool is that? See the Retro MacOS Wordpress Theme in action.
Years ago I was working on a MacOS Copland System 7 themed website. Nothing much came of it though, maybe I’ll go have a look for it.

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006Macs in Glasgow
Sunday, February 26th, 2006Last friday Rob and I decided to check out a Mac shop we had never visited before up the west end of Glasgow. It’s called JustMac (http://www.justmac.co.uk/) and it lives up a little lane off Byres Road.

The actual shop is pretty small and was in a slight state of disarray. Apparently they are moving soon which explains the mess. Anyway I had been looking for an Apple FM remote for the iPod with video which they had. I had searched far and wide for one of these so I was quite impressed that they had one (Apple’s own webstore said 5 day wait!). However impressed I was was nothing compared to Rob. The night before his laptop had an accident and some keys got mangled. He’d managed to rescue most of them but the P key had had it. He asked, “By any chance do you have a shoe box full of iBook keys?”. “Sure”, said the sales guy and went into the back room and promptly returned with a P key for a G3 iBook!

So if you’re looking for mac stuff in Glasgow I recommend a trip to JustMac. Just check their website before you go in case they’ve moved!

Happy Birthday Apple!

Tuesday, March 1st, 200535 days! What’s been happening?
iPod Shuffle
Well my iPod shuffle arrived. It’s a neato peice of kit. I’ve been using it a lot. It’s replaced my 40Gb iPod (which seems to have disappeared from apple’s line up) as my primary music player. I generally just throw my latest podcasts or latest tunes on it for the commute to work. At any other times I’m generally near a decent size collection home work or…
iBook
I’ve been after a a small laptop for a while now. Especially since Carolyn got her 14″ iBook. So in mid January I bought a 12″ iBook. (1.2GHz G4, 768Mb RAM, 80Gb HD and Bluetooth) The whole lot came to “880. At the moment I’m totally loving it. I love having it handy in the front room, the warmest in the house, for checking the IMDB or just some light surfing while watching the TV.
What am I using the iBook for? Well it’s replaced my PC as my primary computer. I now pickup all my mail on the iBook and store all my photos and music on it too. I’ve been doing some light personal dev work on it too. I installed PHP4 and mySQL on it for a portable webdev platform. I’ve also just installed Apple’s developer tools, Xcode etc. I’m starting to learn Objective-C and hope one day to convert my Color Toy to a bona-fide application.
I’ve also been checking out some awesome shareware apps for Mac OS X, and even coughed up for a few! I’ll save that for another posting though.
Holiday
I’ve also just returned from 6 days in France. I was out helping my parents on their new house in the south west, near Tolouse. The house is looking pretty good. The electricity and water got connected while we were there as well as the kitchen getting installed. I look forward to cheap summer and winter holidays in the years to come. (I’ve got plaenty photos from the trip too, 402 to be precise, I’ll get a few cool ones online soon)
So that’s it. Up to date bar a few details.
It’s almost here…
Tuesday, January 25th, 2005Well the week of Shuffle watching I was expecting looks to be a bit shorter than I thought.
